Dental
Comprehensive dental care is provided for all active duty personnel. Periodic dental examinations are scheduled for active duty members through their unit health monitor or unit deployment manager. Follow-up appointments are made at the time of the periodic dental exam appointment or by calling the Dental Clinic.
Dental care for non-active duty personnel is limited to space-available, emergency care only.
Family members of active duty service members are strongly encouraged to enroll in the TRICARE Dental Program. Retirees and their family members are advised to enroll in the
Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, or FEDVIP.
Dental Options Outside of Military Dental Clinics
For dental care outside of a military dental clinic, TRICARE offers dental coverage for service members, families and survivors. Additionally, retired service members, their families and certain survivors may qualify to purchase dental coverage through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program.
